1、产伤：是婴幼儿症状性癫痫的常见原因，造成产伤的原因有产钳助产、胎头吸引器吸引、头盆不称、胎位异常、胎儿过大、产程过长、初产妇年龄过大、产道紧张等。

2、先天性因素：脑畸形、脑积水、染色体异常等先天疾病，以及胎儿出生以前在母体内受到的损害，它可造成大脑发育异常，生后出现癫痫发作，如孕妇腹部受伤、子宫出血、紫外线照射、服用对胎儿有害药物、各种微生物尤其是风疹、麻疹病毒及弓形体感染等。

3、脑发育不全、脑发育迟缓、脑萎缩，各种脑炎、脑膜炎、脑脓肿病人愈后部分人可有癫痫后遗证;脑血吸虫、脑囊虫病可引起癫痫。
