脑电图分为常规脑电图、诱发电位脑电图、动态脑电图、视频脑电图等。病人及家属看到做脑电图是头上缠有很多导线与机器相连，认为每次做都会给脑子通电，因而害怕做脑电图。其实这种顾虑是没有必要的，主要是对脑电图不了解。正常人的脑子里都有电的活动，脑电图只是从头皮上记录下来自脑细胞的自发性电活动而已。是非侵犯性的检测技术，同做心电图一样，不但无害，同时也没有痛苦。
