有时候癫痫患者出现自动症会影响患者的精神，如朦胧状态：这种发作的表现极复杂，是癫痫患者常见的发作性精神障碍，常为突然发病，意识不清，对周围环境定向力不好，对事物感知力不清，不能进行正常接触，可出现幻觉、妄想，多有情感障碍，如恐慌、愤怒、行为紊乱，甚或毁物伤人等，发作时可有植物神经症状。这种情况对孩子影响很大。
