脑电图出现弥漫性两侧对称同步的棘慢综合波，一般预后良好;出现高度失节律及弥漫性尖慢综合波的，一般预后不良。

癫痫病人的心理状态对预后也有重要影响。社会、学校和家庭都要对病人伸出温暖的手，消除歧视和偏见，减轻病人的心理负担。实际上，脑部无严重病变的癫痫病人，在生活、工作和学习上与正常人没有什么区别。

国外诊治癫痫的先进经验令人振奋，只要处理得当，通过药物可使近80%的癫痫病人获得相当满意的控制;另外还有10%左右的癫痫病人通过手术治疗使发作得到控制。总之，大多数癫痫病人的预后是好的。随着医学的不断进步，癫痫病人的明天会更好。
