医院最近接诊了一位15岁的青少年癫痫患者，深受癫痫病困扰长达十几年，并且癫痫病情有不断加剧的趋势。该患者3岁起，有一天晚上，无明显诱因出现意识不清、双眼凝视，四肢抽搐，每次发作会持续2分钟左右，然后自行缓解，每月癫痫病发作好几次，造成智力减退、记忆力衰退。在当地医院诊断为癫痫病，一直以来以癫痫病医治，但药物治疗效果不佳。

因为最近该患者的癫痫病发作越来越频繁，便到北京来进行治疗，经过专家的仔细检查发现：患者的右边肚子上，有一树叶形色素脱失斑，后面背部有多个圆形的白斑，脸上出现皮脂腺丘疹，神经系统未见阳性异常体征，智力检查比较低下。经过与家长的沟通，否认孩子有产伤、窒息史，也否认高热惊厥史;否认脑炎、脑膜炎的病史;否认有颅脑外损伤史;否认传染病史和药物过敏史。头颅核磁共振提示：大脑皮层多发异常信号。专家初步诊断：结节性硬化。

专家分析，该患者不但有癫痫病发作症状、还有智能减退和皮肤改变等症状，影像学检查可见皮层多发异常信号，支持结节性硬化的临床诊断。该病70-90%患者有癫痫发作，可自婴儿痉挛症起，以后转化为全面性、简单部分性和复杂部分性发作，频繁发作者智能减退，常伴有情绪不稳、行为冲动等人格特征。
