3、药物治疗最重要的一点就是，一旦开始服药治疗，必须坚持服用，万万不能间断，只有这样才能有效地控制发作，若发作已完全控制，减药时要逐渐减量，不可骤停。

4、对于各种颅内感染引起的癫痫，要积极地预防这些感染的发生，一旦发生了颅内感染性疾病，应及早诊断，正确治疗，减轻脑组织损伤程度。在颅内感染的急性期，不少患者常有癫痫发作，这时应及时、足量地使用抗癫痫药物，以减轻脑组织因癫痫发作造成的损害，也可减少日后癫痫发作的机会。

5、预防脑外伤引起的癫痫，重点是预防脑外伤的发生，避免因工作、交通事故引起脑外伤。

6、高热惊厥患者以后约有15%左右转变成癫痫，如对有复发可能的高热惊厥，应及早地采取预防措施，可大大减少高热惊厥造成的脑损伤，也就减少了癫痫的发生率。

7、为了预防出生时脑损伤引起的癫痫，对于高龄初产妇，如预计生产过程不顺利，应及早剖腹取胎，这样可以避免因缺氧、窒息、产伤引起婴儿日后患癫痫。

8、对因遗传性疾病引起的癫痫，要进行产前诊断，发现患某种遗传性疾病，伴发癫痫的胎儿可以人工流产，这样就可以减少这类癫痫的发生。
