小儿的组织器官柔嫩，功能不完善，对抗癫痫药的吸收、分布、代谢、排泄等都不同于成年人，用药过程要根据这些特点来斟酌分析灵活应用，强调个体化，控制副作用，采用综合疗法，标本兼治。在治疗的同时要注意保护好大脑功能，只有在脑功能良好的基础上，抗癫痫药才能发挥有效作用。
