【病因与预后】癫痫病治疗中心专家提示：遗传性羊羔疯通常为良性预后，如儿童良性羊羔疯伴中央颞区棘波、儿童失神性羊羔疯等，对抗羊羔疯药物反应良好，发作次数岁随年龄增长而减少，多数在青春期后消失。由急性颅脑外伤引起的羊羔疯发作预后较好，一般在急性期过后即不再复发;少数可遗留羊羔疯反复发作，需长期应用抗羊羔疯药物控制。在治愈原发病以后往往仍有羊羔疯发作，应进行长期药物治疗。脑炎、脑膜炎引起的羊羔疯，预后因感染的轻重和并发症的有无而异。

先天性遗传代谢缺陷、脑变性病及先天性脑发育异常等病因引起的羊羔疯预后多不好，发作难以控制。羊羔疯患儿合并神经系统异常及智力低下也提示预后不好。有些临床下的棘慢波持续发放常常出现在睡眠期，虽然羊羔疯发作不频繁，也容易控制，但持续数月或更长时间的电持续状态可能对患儿的语言、行为及认知功能造成不同程度的影响。

羊羔疯起病后早期开始治疗可减少复发，减轻惊厥性脑损伤，有助于改善预后。规律用药的疗程长短可影响停药后的复发率，疗程长则复发率低。一般来说病程短、及时药物治疗控制发作者复发率低;病程长、有神经系统异常、脑电图异常、智力低下及症状性羊羔疯病因未去除者复发率高。
