癫痫对女性患者的影响主要有以下四方面

影响一、许多生育妇女的癫痫发作，在月经来潮前或月经期加重：一些患者的发作只出现在月经前或月经期，称之为月经性癫痫。月经加重发作在症状性癫痫中更为突出，那些已经有频繁发作者，或有月经前紧张者，更可能在月经前发作，或在月经性出血时发作。

影响二、多囊性卵巢在普通人群中较为常见：多囊性卵巢综合症(多毛症、痤疮、肥胖、生殖能力低下、雄激素过多和月经紊乱)并不常见。有资料显示，在女性癫痫病人中，多囊性卵巢疾病的发病率增加，而且服用丙戊酸后发病率更高。当然，这还是个极有争议性的问题。

影响三、爱美之心人皆有之，女性爱美天经地义：影响癫痫女性外貌的最主要因素是抗癫痫药物。多年的临床经验得出的结论是，抗癫痫药物可引起部分女性面貌变粗糙并伴唇变厚，以及面部和头皮皮下组织变厚，鼻子变宽。此外近1/3的妇女有面部多毛，通常位于面部，偶尔见全身多毛。

影响四、在月经周期的过程中，人们可以预见到癫痫发作的频率变化(经期性癫痫)：多年的临床经验证实，发作频率在月经期时常增多，这个特征性的表现，是由于此时雌激素/孕激素的比值较高所致(正在月经前期、月经期中和排卵期)。雌激素可以诱发海马神经元的结构和功能发生变化，增加了癫痫发作的易感性。

　　特别是某些抗癫痫药对某种发作类型不但无效，反而能使发作加重。这是癫痫病难治的原因之一。有的病人认为“凡药自有三分毒”，认为长期服用癫痫药物治疗会有副作用，会造成大脑功能和身体损害，有的从眼前的经济利益出发，中断治疗。诸如此类的问题往往导致疾病复发。什么原因导致癫痫
