小儿高热时常处于嗜睡状态，此时父母要注意变换小儿体位，并经常按摩背部、臀部，促进血液循环。如果小儿能够进食，要及时母乳喂养，较大儿童可给予流食，并鼓励多饮水，避免脱水。如果不能进食，则需鼻饲或静脉补液，应当遵医嘱而定。一旦小儿发生惊厥，应立即将患儿置于平卧位并去掉枕头，将小儿头部偏向一侧，解开衣领，及时去除口腔内分泌物，防止抽搐时发生窒息。

由于惊厥时可能咬破唇舌，因而需在小儿上下齿之间垫入裹有纱布的压舌板，如果没有可就地取材，用裹有纱布的竹板或小木片垫在上下齿之间。上述详细的介绍了高热惊厥的急救措施，因此当幼儿出现上述现象时，一定要做好正确的护理。
