癫痫(羊角风)患者忽然意识丧失，继之先强直后阵挛性痉挛。常伴尖叫、面色青紫尿失禁、舌咬伤、口吐白沫或血沫瞳孔散大。持续数十秒或数分钟后痉挛发作自然停止，进入昏睡状态醒后有短时间的头昏、烦躁、疲乏对发作过程不能回忆。

对于一些儿童癫痫(羊角风)患者来说，则以经常性愣神为主，忽然短暂意识丧失，发作不超过30秒，自行恢复。如患儿在学习或玩耍时忽然面色苍白、双目注视、中止原来的活动和谈话、手中持物跌落、头前倾、口角眼睑颤动、时有眼球颤动，既不跌倒、也不抽搐。对于发作过程，患者不能回忆。
