癫痫的诱发因素有很多，像癫痫病的发病因素也与气候的变化有关系，气候骤然变化是能够引起患者机体的不适应，当突然的寒冷，暑热侵入患者的体内时，容易出现一系列的症状，诱发发作，危及癫痫患者的脑部健康。

还有一些突然的打击等都会造成癫痫，比如突发精神刺激，一些突发的事件，容易引起患者情绪剧烈的波动，在没有任何思想准备的情况下出现这种情况，受到精神刺激，会使患者大脑过度兴奋，这就是造成癫痫病的病因，因此日常生活尽量避免受到过度刺激。

现在的生活环境中，噪音污染随处可见，比如强音刺激，患者受到强音刺激，就会出现烦躁不安，心慌，心动加速，坐卧不安等现象，精神就会高度紧张，神经过度的兴奋，能够直接诱发癫痫发作，因此要注意选择生活环境。

癫痫还存在一些特别的诱发因素，比如觉醒因素，有些全身强直-阵挛性发作患者多在晨醒后及傍晚时发作，称觉醒癫痫;有的则多在睡入后和觉醒前发作，称睡眠癫痫。觉醒及睡眠时均有发作者称不定期癫痫。后者多为症状性癫痫。婴儿痉亦常在入睡前和睡醒后发作，失神发作多为觉醒期发作。晚上发作要注意不要睡在较高的床上，防止从床上摔下受伤，所以需要有人守护在癫痫患者身边。

癫痫患者不同年龄层发病率不一样，因此年龄因素可能影响癫痫发病，年龄对癫痫(羊癫疯)的发病率、发作类型、病因和预后均有影响。癫痫的初发年龄60%～80%在20岁以前。新生儿正常呈移动性部分性发作，6个月到5岁热性惊厥多见。儿童良性中央-颞棘波灶癫痫多在4～10岁开始，青春期后自愈。不过不要轻信癫痫不治疗能够痊愈，癫痫需要及时的治疗。

成年期多为部分性发作或继发性全身性发作。病因方面，婴儿期首次发作者多为脑器质性特别是围产前期疾病，其后至20岁以前开始发作者常为原发性者，青年至成年则颅脑外伤是一重要原因，中年期后颅脑肿瘤为多，老年者以脑血管病占首位。因此不管什么年龄的人都要重视避免癫痫的病因。
