生活中，我们总听说要多喝水，喝水可以排毒、可以养颜、可以降火，还可以治感冒。“喝水”在一般人心中，仿佛是多多益善，怎么多喝都行。其实，水喝得过量了，一样也会“中毒”，英国妇女佩奇的事例警示我们：水要喝，但是切不可过量。

佩奇由于在连续一段时间内，饮用了超量的水，肾脏不能及时将多余的水分排出体外，使得血液被稀释，血液中的钠盐浓度降低，过量的水分涌入人体的脑细胞内，引起脑水肿，最终导致大脑不可逆的损伤。一般人运动之后，因为流汗过多，需要及时补充水分，但若补给不当，也易导致水中毒。

那么，究竟怎么喝水才是适当而且健康的呢?who(世界卫生组织)2003年提出的饮水标准是，在25摄氏度气温、空气湿度≤60%，且不进行任何运动的安静状态下，人每天的饮水量分别是：儿童1升;成年男性2.9升;成年女性2.2升，孕妇要达4.8升，哺乳期妇女3.3升。在高温或强体力劳动的情况下，不同群体的饮水量标准都要提高到4.5升/天。

除了饮水量要适度外，饮水方式也决定着水是滋养品还是毒药。

中国医促会健康饮用水专业委员会主任、世界水文化研究会会长李复兴教授提醒，正常人要定时饮水，不要只在口渴时才想起来。他推荐的饮水方式之一是3∶3∶3饮水法，即一天喝3杯、分3次喝、每次喝3分钟。对于健康人来说，3∶3∶3饮水法是一种既经济又安全有效的保健方法。

另外，要注意喝新鲜开水，新鲜开水不但无菌，还含有人体所需的十几种矿物质;尽可能地饮用温开水，特别是夏季，温开水有益散热，并能保持肠胃的蠕动功能。
