心藏神，肾藏精主髓，脾运中焦，肝主疏泄而调畅气机，可见脑与心、肝、肾、脾诸脏功能相关。

中医讲究饮食有节，认为脾胃乃后天之本，人体所需要的营养都要靠津液气血输布，而这些全靠脾胃功能完成。饮食无节制，造成运化失职，积成痰饮，蒙蔽心窍，必然引起癫痫。
