什么是癫痫病

癫痫病(epilepsy)是大脑神经元突发性异常放电，导致短暂的大脑功能障碍的一种慢性疾病。癫痫能治愈吗?答案是肯定的。癫痫并不是什么不治之症，是可以被根治的。而癫痫发作(epilepticseizure)是指脑神经元异常和过度超同步化放电所造成的临床现象。其特征是突然和一过性症状，由于异常放电的神经元在大脑中的部位不同，而有多种多样的表现。可以是运动感觉神经或自主神经的伴有或不伴有意识或警觉程度的变化。

2005年国际抗癫痫联盟对癫痫病的定义作了修订，什么是癫痫病，其推荐的定义为：癫痫病是一种脑部疾患，其特点是持续存在能产生癫痫发作的脑部持久性改变，并出现相应的神经生物学、认知、心理学以及社会学等方面的后果。诊断癫痫病至少需要一次癫痫病发作，然而至今为止，国内学界的共识为反复出现的癫痫病发作，方可诊断为癫痫病，仅有一次发作不诊断为癫痫，因此，正确理解国际抗癫痫病联盟的癫痫定义，对癫痫病的诊断具有重要意义。

结合对癫痫病新定义的理解，专家认为：癫痫病是一组由已知或未知病因引起、脑部神经细胞高度同步化，且常具自限性的异常放电所导致的综合征。以反复、发作性、短暂性、通常为刻板性的中枢神经系统功能失常为特征，由于异常放电神经元的位置不同，放电扩展的范围不同，患者的发作可表现为感觉、运动、意识、精神、行为、自主神经功能障碍或兼而有之。每次发作称为癫痫发作，持续存在的癫痫病易感性所导致的反复发作称为癫痫病。

这些易感性包括有明确的癫痫病家族史，发作间期脑电图有明确的痫样放电，有确切而不能根除的癫痫病因存在等。在癫痫中，由特定症状和体征组成的特定的癫痫现象，称为癫痫病综合征。癫痫的后果对患者的心理、认知及社会功能都有明显影响。
