需要知道的是，当发现自己怀孕时往往已经是2个月以上了，所以准备生育的女性癫痫患者，怀孕前一定要提前做好准备，做好癫痫遗传的防治工作。

具体做法如下：

・孕前：根据自身的情况，在医生的指导下减药或停药(注：对于发作次数少，发作程度轻的情况可以尝试逐渐减停药物)若可以停药，则停药后6个月以上就可以正常怀孕;若不能停药，就尽量选择单药、副作用较小的药物及剂量。

注意，无论是停药还是减药，前提一定是控制住癫痫发作，要知道母亲癫痫发作可能直接导致胎儿的畸形!

・怀孕期间：怀孕早期不要吃激素药物，在怀孕之前3个月以及怀孕初始3个月应补充叶酸，以预防先天神经管发育畸形(例如先天性脊柱裂)，另外定期做好检查。

在怀孕过程中，由于内分泌及代谢的变化，约有1/3的病人癫痫发作可能加重，但大部分病人在妊娠期发作无变化甚至好转。妊娠期的癫痫妇女应常规服用叶酸及多种维生素，防止药物致畸和分娩时可能出现的出血倾向。

・临产期：临近产期要补充维生素，以预防新生儿出血等;妊娠16-18周时还可进行超声波检查有无脊柱裂、心脏畸形或肢体残缺，有条件也可做羊水穿刺测定α-胎儿蛋白水平。

・围产期：最好准备，以免婴儿分娩时因缺氧等因素导致癫痫

・哺乳期：母乳喂养对孩子的健康成长最好，但是女性癫痫患者需要注意，如果服用抗癫痫药期间哺乳，奶水中的癫痫药物成分有可能会危害到婴儿，导致癫痫，所以一定要遵循医嘱，加倍小心。
