(1)癫痫先兆期：约半数患者有先兆，指在意识丧失前的一瞬间所出现的各种体验。常见的先兆可为特殊感觉性的幻视、幻嗅、眩晕，一般感觉性的肢体麻木、触电感。强直期忽然意识丧失、倒地、头后仰、肢体强直，由于隔肌痉挛，病人发出“羊羔”样吼叫，面色青紫、瞳孔散大、呼吸暂停，持续数十秒不等。阵挛期全身肌肉有节律性抽动、常咬破舌头、口吐白沫、可伴有大小便失禁，一般持续1分钟～3分钟。

(2)癫痫大发作小发作：小发作时主要的癫痫的早期症状为突发性精神活动中断，意识丧失、可伴肌阵挛或自动症，发作的时间比较的短，数秒的时间就会自然地停止。癫痫大发作。大发作时癫痫的早期症状是突然意识丧失，继之先强直后阵挛性痉挛。常伴尖叫、面色青紫、尿失禁、舌咬伤、口吐白沫或血沫、瞳孔散大。大发作的持续时间一般是数十秒或者是数分钟，自然停止进入昏睡。醒后的会有短时间的头昏、烦躁、疲乏表现。

(3)癫痫恢复期：一般要数十分钟或一个小时才能够停止发作，病人对发作过程不能回忆完全没有记忆，全身疼痛、乏力。个别病人在恢复期有狂燥、乱跑乱叫、打人毁物等情况发生。
