　　传统的脑电图记录。如硬膜下电极包括线电极和栅电极放置在可能是癫痫区域的脑部。

　　CT和MRI大大提高了癫痫病灶结构异常的诊断。目前已在临床应用脑功能检查包括阳离子衍射断层摄影(PET)、单光子衍射断层摄影(SPECT)和MRI光谱分析仪(MRS)。PET可以测量脑的糖和氧的代谢脑血流和神经递质功能变化。SPECT亦可以测量脑血流、代谢和神经递质功能变化，但是在定量方面没有PET准确。MRS可以测量某些化学物质，如乙酰天冬氨酸含胆碱物质、肌酸和乳酸在癫痫区域的变化。

　　六、神经生化的检查目前已经应用的离子特异电极和微透析探针，可以放置在脑内癫痫区域，测量癫痫发作间、发作时和发作后的某些生化改变。

　　七、神经病理检查是手术切除癫痫病灶的病理检查，可以确定癫痫病因是由脑瘤瘢痕、血管畸形、硬化炎症、发育异常或其他异常引起。

　　八、神经心理检查

　　此项检查可以评估认知功能的障碍，可以判断癫痫病灶或区域在大脑的哪一侧
