2、智能发育迟缓：大约40%有智力障碍的儿童有癫痫发作，症状性癫痫的原发病因可以导致智力发育迟滞，因而学习困难。

4、教师对癫痫不正确的认识：普遍存在的问题是将癫痫等同于智力低下，对癫痫儿童的学习放任不管，教师也不懂如何发挥这些孩子的特殊专长，甚至一旦得知某个学生有过抽风，不一定是癫痫，就强令退学，强行剥夺学生的学习权力，这种现象虽多见于小学，但也经常发生在中学以及大学。

5、家庭因素：儿童癫痫患儿的父母，经常认为上学用脑可以引起发作加重，因而休学或退学，误以为体育课可以引起发作或受意外伤害，因而不让孩子上体育课，也不让孩子做户外活动，父母对发作的恐惧使他们对孩子过分呵护，使其患有癫痫的孩子全部生活、学习能力降低，不能发挥本人的学习能力。

6、癫痫患者的心理行为障碍：普遍存在于癫痫患者的自卑感和耻辱感，使他们不愿意上学，不主动学习，有些行为异常，也使他们不能认真学习。有的患者有“癫痫依赖性”，习惯于自我迁就，害怕发作控制后，可能威胁到受照顾的闲散生活方式，发作不能控制肯定会影响学习。
