6、交替过渡换药：原则上不宜频繁换药。当一种药物已达治疗浓度而确实无效或出现严重的毒副作用时可换另一种药物，换药时应在原药的基础上加新药，重叠服用一段时间后，逐步减少原药至完全停止，防止血药浓度波动引起癫痫持续状态。

7、坚持连续服药：癫痫是慢性病，须坚持连续服药，缓慢停药。服药期间，从最后一次发作算起，要连续三年不发作，复查脑电图正常，才能逐渐减停药物;一般认为巩固治疗时间越长，今后复发的机会越小。

8、观察不良反应：抗癫痫药物都有一定的毒副作用，用药期间注意密切观察，定期监测血药浓度和血象、肝肾功能，如出现过敏、中毒症状时应及时停药并对症处理。

9、慎用其它药物：当癫痫患者患上其他疾病，需合用其他药物时，要注意对这些药物的吸收和代谢影响。如与某些抗菌素合用时，加速其代谢而影响疗效。
