3、多药联合：由于急于控制发作，不少家属或医生一开始就用多种抗癫痫病药联合应用，却没想治疗癫痫病并不是药物越多越好,几种药物相互反应，会降低疗效，同时还可能造成慢性药物中毒。

4、频繁换药或过快停药：癫痫病患者适合于小剂量长期服药，不能频繁换药，否则副作用大，而且难以达到很好的治疗效果,因担心长期服药的毒副作用或缺乏耐心而擅自过早停药会导致癫痫病复发，必须引起重视。

5、服药不规律：不少医生不能根据某一癫痫病患者的发作类型选择适当药物，制定出长远的治疗计划，而是任意加药、减药、换药及停药，造成发作长期不能控制或慢性药物中毒。

6、患者身体因素：部分癫痫病患者先天大脑发育异常、后天脑软化或者有其他遗传因素，也是造成癫痫病长期不能控制的原因。
