还有确诊为癫痫后要及时治疗，决定治疗的因素不仅是控制癫痫发作，还要考虑到患儿的脑功能发育情况。当应用2-3种最适合的抗癫痫药物仍无明显疗效时，如果更换其他药物来控制癫痫病发作的可能性就会非常小了。专家同时提醒，在大脑皮质尚有最大的可塑性之前进行手术是最好的选择，一般在5～10岁之间较为理想，当患儿进入青春期后脑部发育便开始减缓直至消失，这时候在治疗效果可能并不是很大。
