3、脑血管病和颅内肿瘤，也是当前老年癫痫的常见病因。除血管畸形产生羊羔疯发作时年龄较轻外，脑血管病癫痫多见于中、老年人。出血性及缺血性脑血管病均可引起癫痫。病后1年左右开始发生癫痫的约有5%。30岁以后发生癫痫的病人，除脑外伤外，脑肿瘤是常见原因，尤其是缓慢生长的胶质瘤、脑膜瘤、星形细胞瘤等。

4、感染性疾病是老年癫痫的常见病因。生活中的各种脑炎、脑膜炎、脑脓肿急性期的充血、水肿、毒素的影响及血液中的渗出物都能引起老年癫痫发作，痊愈后形成的疤痕及粘连也可能成为癫痫病灶;寄生虫，如脑血吸虫病、脑囊虫病常引起老年癫痫发作。
