癫痫是神经元异常放电形成的疾病，虽然脑肿瘤细胞自身不具有放电性，但是肿瘤具有膨胀性生长的趋势，可压迫周围的脑组织、血管，发生水肿、肿胀、缺氧等病理改变。这些发生病理改变的神经元细胞会出现代谢异常及膜电位的波动，都会引起类似神经元的异常放电而导致癫痫的发生。
