对癫痫病人全面的体格检查有助疾病的诊断跟其他疾病相比，对癫痫病病人的检查，除一般全面、完整的全身体格检查以外，还应注意以下方面的检查：(1)患者的语言、智能、认知、行为、发育等，可以帮助了解有无脑损害。(2)头围及头形：如小头畸形、半侧巨脑症。(3)皮肤：如色素脱失斑、牛奶咖啡斑、皮脂腺瘤、皮下神经纤维瘤、面部血管痣等，可以帮助诊断是否有其他疾病引起的癫痫症状，如结节性硬化症。(4)神经系统检查：包括颅神经、运动、感觉、自主神经等系统有无阳性体征。
