中医认为"无痰不作痫"，也就是说痰是致痫之源，故逐痰、豁痰是治疗癫痫很重要的方法。癫痫病人或是由于有形之痰闭阻肺络，出现喉间痰声漉漉、口吐痰涎，或者由于无形之痰蒙蔽。这些痰证有的是由于脾虚运化失职，水湿所化的湿痰，或是因热而成的热痰、燥痰所致。

中医治癫痫病：从瘀论治。

中医学有“久病多瘀”之说，颅脑外伤，或小儿难产、颅内出血所造成的癫痫，多因气滞血瘀而阻滞经络，发为癫痫。

中医治癫痫病：从风论治。

由于肝阳上亢或阴虚内动、风挟痰浊瘀血上扰神明而引起癫痫抽搐。临床上发病迅猛，变化迅速，临床表现复杂多样，或出现全身强直抽搐，摇头动肩，口眼震颤，肢体肌肉抖动，或两眼上视或斜视，头晕目眩、脉弦劲有力。
