2、症状性(继发性)癫痫：是指由多种脑部器质性病损或代谢障碍所致。有染色体畸形、先天性脑积水、小头畸形，胼胝体发育不全、脑皮质发育不全、颅内肿瘤、变性疾病、感染、中毒、高热惊厥后遗、颅脑损伤、脑血管疾病、营养代谢性疾病等，儿童佝偻病时常发生癫痫。在成人中，胰岛细胞瘤所致低血糖、糖尿病、甲亢、甲状旁腺功能减退、维生素B6缺乏症等均可导致发作。

有部分患儿疾病的表现可能较为隐蔽，即使确定为症状性癫痫病者，其具体病因也常常不能肯定。青少年癫痫病是一种常见的神经系统疾病，发病原因很多。青少年癫痫病患者在癫痫患者中占有不小的比重，他们正处于发育成长期，更需科学规范的治疗。治疗越早，脑损伤将越小，预后越好。
