临床表现为反复发作的肌肉抽搐和意识障碍，发作形式有全身性发作和部分性发作两种，脑电图对本病有50-60%的诊断等，反复发作对小儿的智力及精神发育有严重影响。小儿癫痫的遗传有时取决于孕妇，服用抗癫痫药物的妇女所生的婴儿发生各种畸型的危险性高于正常人群2倍一3倍，各种抗癫痫的药物对胎儿的影响也不尽相同。

癫痫患者在怀孕过程中，由于内分泌及代谢的变化，约有1/3的病人癫痫发作可能加重，但大部分病人在妊娠期发作无变化甚至好转，妊娠期的癫痫妇女应常规服用叶酸及多种维生素，防止药物致畸和分娩时可能出现的出血倾向。

温馨提示：专家表示，总之，服药中的癫痫妇女在怀孕前应在癫痫专科医生的指导下做好计划。在妊娠前半年就应将癫痫发作控制到最少限度，药物尽量由多剂减至单剂，维持能够控制癫痫发作的最低剂量，整个妊娠期要定期随诊。

癫痫病在饮食方面有什么禁忌，1.癫痫患者不能吃含钾量高的食物，癫痫患者需忌食含钾量高的食物，脑外伤引起的癫痫患者和长期服用镇静药物的患者容易脱水、贫血、白细胞减少、营养不良等，严重患者可出现电解质代谢紊乱(高血钾症)。患者若吃很多含钾量高的食物，就会增加血钾含量，加重病情。

2.癫痫患者不能吃锌含量高的食物，癫痫专家认为，抗癫痫药物或其他代谢产物能有效地与锌离子发生络合反应，降低癫痫患者的血锌浓度，从而控制癫痫发作。若患者在吃着药物的同时，又吃很多锌含量高的食物，那必然会对癫痫的治疗有不好的影响。

3.癫痫患者不能吃过咸的食物，癫痫发作是从间脑开始的，刺激间脑即可引起癫痫发作。间脑是人体水分的调节中枢，过多饮水会加重间脑的负担，从而导致癫痫发作。而吃过咸的食物很容易导致患者过度饮水，导致病情加重
