在胚胎发育中受到病毒感染、放射线照射或其它原因引起的胚胎发育不良可以引起羊角风;胎儿生产过程中产伤是引起羊角风的一个主要原因;颅脑外伤也可引起羊角风，其中开放性颅脑损伤患者的羊角风发生率可以达到50%，所以脑损害与脑损伤引起的羊角风发作也是不能忽视的。

颅脑其它疾病包括脑瘤、脑血管病、颅内感染等也是羊角风的病因。有些羊角风患者的发作和环境因素有一定的关系，一般男性患者较女性患者稍多，青少年及青壮年多见，农村高于城市，另外发热、精神刺激等也是羊角风发生的原因。因此，在平时生活中，羊角风患者要避免诱发因素，调畅情意，控制情感，勿过喜过悲，勿思虑过度，不能过劳，保持充足的睡眠，养成良好的生活习惯，尽量少看电视，不玩电子游戏，在电脑前操作时间不宜太长，少玩麻将，少饮酒等等。这些措施不仅可以减少诱发因素，对羊角风的治疗也能起到积极作用。
