1、控制期

老年癫痫控制期治疗一般是一到三个月，症状比较严重的患者可延长时间。

2、巩固期

老年癫痫病的治疗方法，是合理的用药，防止癫痫复发。此时老年癫痫的治疗，一癫痫不再发作为基础，针对其特点，注重病体的整体调理，增强病人的抗病能力，巩固疗效，使之不再复发，治疗效果非常不错。

老年癫痫巩固期治疗一般比较长，需要一到两年的时间。

3、治好期

老年癫痫病的治疗方法，逐渐减少药物用量，直到患者完全康复，在经过以上两个治疗时期侯。患者的各种病态症候完全恢复正常、复查脑电图两次也很正常，且癫痫病再没有发作过。

　　每次发作或每种发作均称为痫性发作(epilepticseizure)。l%一2%的人在一生中有过一次痫性发作。癫痫是一种以反复病性发作为特征的慢性临床过程，同一患者可有一种或多种痫性发作形式。由于某些原因如缺氧、缺钙、低血糖或高血糖、尿毒症和子痫等导致的一过性脑部神经元异常放电所引起的脑功能暂时性失调，而产生的单次发作，称为一次痫性发作。正常人由于感冒、发热、电解质失调、药物过量、长期饮酒后的戒断、睡眠不足和心理压力等，有时也会引起单次发作，但上述情况都不能诊断为癫痫。什么原因会引起癫痫疾病
