另外，肌阵挛发作常常会合并其它类型的发作形式，且许多肌阵挛抽动和动作性肌阵挛并不属于癫痫的发作形式，而可能为脊髓病挛、肌阵挛小脑共济失调、皮层下节投性肌阵挛、多发性肌阵挛和斜视眼阵挛肌阵挛综合症等。从上面介绍的看，儿童肌阵挛发作好像不会对患者产生严重后果，而且轻微的发作好像也不会影响患者的生活工作。但是，病情轻微者如果不做及时治疗处理，可能会导致最终恶化;病情严重者，每天的发作次数能达到数十次甚至过百数之多，如没有积极规范的治疗既有可能转为大发作。
