癫痫小发作又称失神发作。典型的表现为病人有短暂意识丧失，大多数意识完全丧失，偶尔意识障碍较浅，对周围有所了解，能闻声问话，但不能回答。癫痫小发作以意识障碍短暂而频发为其特点。多数每次发作2-15秒，不超过1分钟，每日数次至数十次。忽然发生，忽然终止。这是常见的癫痫病的典型症状。

癫痫病早期的症状。我们需要知道癫痫病的典型症状有很多，但都具有突发突止和周期性发作的特征。小儿癫痫常见的有小儿癫痫大发作、小儿癫痫小发作及小儿良性癫痫。小儿癫痫大发作时患儿忽然神志丧失，呼吸暂停，面色青紫，瞳孔散大，四肢强直，双手握拳，然后转入阵发性抽搐，口吐白沫，发作一般持续1～5分钟。

当癫痫病小发作时。癫痫病典型症状表现为忽然意识丧失，活动中断，两眼注视或上翻，但不跌倒，不抽搐，历时1～10秒钟，发作后意识很快恢复。小儿良性癫痫发作时多为一侧面、唇、舌的抽动，可伴有该部的感觉异常，不能说话，流涎，一般神志清楚，夜间发作多，预后比较好。
