病人表现为猝发性腹痛，部位多在脐四周围及上腹部，少量可放射至下腹部及腹侧面，痛疼多较猛烈，如绞痛或刀割样，连续不断时间几分钟，也可连续不断几钟头以上。发作时不时伴有定然程度的认识绊脚石，如定向绊脚石，知觉绊脚石或神魂依稀等，但无绝对的认识失去。

另外，病人常伴有进食要求不振作、恶心、吐呕、拉肚子等胃肠道症状。还可有其它植物神经器官功能失调症状，如脸色惨白，肉皮儿绯红、出汗、血压不稳，身体的温度低或发热、眩晕，昏厥等。大多数患者发作往后劳乏、嗜睡或深睡。醒来时感受令人满意。发作常可在数日内多次发作。

最后，在腹痛发作间歇期，其它的阵发性症状，如阵发性头疼，以及各种行径绊脚石也较常见。还可有各品类型的癫痫发作，如大发作、神魂运动性发作等。
