家强调，母乳喂养对婴儿的益处和实际意义将远远高于婴儿暴露在抗癫痫药下的潜在危险。所以，合理选择适宜抗癫痫药控制母亲的癫痫发作，与同时坚持母乳喂养之间并不冲突，不必过分担心对婴儿的不利影响。

当然，有些问题仍是需要注意的：①避免使用那些哺乳期禁用的抗癫痫药(如卡马西平、氨基烯酸及佐尼沙胺)。②抗癫痫药使用剂量应在常规剂量之内，不可随意加大剂量。③由于个体差异，有少数服用苯妥英钠或丙戊酸钠的母亲乳汁中可能药量稍大，哺乳后可引起婴儿易激惹、睡眠不良及体重减轻等现象，此时可在不影响母亲癫痫治疗的情况下适当减小剂量，这有助于减轻婴儿症状，合用维生素B6也有所帮助。
