误区之三：癫痫的病因预防包括优生优育、孕期保健、围产期保健以及预防颅内感染、热性惊厥及脑外伤、脑中风等方面。不少病人虽然重视药物治疗，但因忽视诱发因素而复发。这些诱发因素包括饮酒、过度疲劳、睡眠不足、暴饮暴食、惊吓发热、感染性疾病以及看电视、电脑时间过长等。

误区之四：抗癫痫治疗是个持久战，要有三五年的准备。很多家属担心长期服药的副作用，如影响孩子智力、肝功能异常、过敏反应等，出现随意减药停药，或发作时服药，不发作就停药。结果病情反反复复，常年不能控制。现在认为抗癫痫药只要选药恰当、剂量合理、定期监测，一般不会有严重的副作用。相反，随意停药造成反复的抽搐会导致脑损伤，因为每抽搐一次对大脑都会造成一次损伤。正确的做法是，即使服药后病情控制，没有发作，也要在医生指导下坚持服药3-5年，切不可骤然停药，不然会诱发癫痫持续状态。
