首先患有癫痫会有这样的症状，肌阵挛发作。全身或身体某个部位肌肉突然强烈地闪电样收缩，患儿可表现为突然点头、弯腰或后仰，或整个身体突然后仰或侧倾，其特点为发作突然，时间短暂，1～2秒钟内终止，常造成孩子额头、下颌等处碰伤。由于发作时间短，所以意识障碍常常不易被发现。这时就要选择好的治疗方法了。

其次对于患者朋友们来说，全身强直-阵挛发作，突然意识丧失，继之先强直后阵挛性痉挛。常伴尖叫、面色青紫、尿失禁、舌咬伤、口吐白沫或血沫、瞳孔散大。持续数十秒或数分钟后痉挛发作自然停止，这也是一种最常见的症状表现。

不典型失神发作。表现近似于典型失神发作，但孩子发作的起始和终止都较典型失神慢。有这种发作类型的孩子常伴有智力障碍和其他类型的发作。预后较差。单纯部分性发作，某一局部或一侧肢体的强直、阵挛性发作，或感觉异常发作，历时短暂，意识清楚。若发作范围沿运动区扩及其他肢体或全身时可伴意识丧失，称杰克森发作(Jack)。发作后患肢可有暂时性瘫痪，称Todd麻痹。生活中做好预防，就会减少发病的可能。
