癫痫病人的饮食调理原则：均衡营养是最为关键，忌口不是盲目的，需根据癫痫病人实际情况而定。癫痫病人应避免食用诱发癫痫的食物。羊肉、狗肉、雄鸡、野鸭、鲤鱼等发物均不宜多食用;烈酒、浓茶、咖啡应绝对禁止;胡椒、辣椒、芥末、大葱、大蒜等辛辣调味品也应适当限量。

癫痫病人应适当限制碳水化合物的摄入量。癫痫病人所需要的热能和蛋白质与正常人相同，而碳水化合物就不需要太多，以每天不超过300克为宜;适当增加脂肪的供应量，宜占总热量的60%左右;限制水分，每天不超过1000毫升;盐每天不超过3克;充分供给维生素与矿物质，尤其是铁、钙等元素;禁止食用含糖多的食物和刺激性食物。

此外，如果病人处于癫痫的高发期，病情不稳定，饮食更需谨慎。研究结果表明，癫痫严重发作或频繁发作期闹，会使神经兴奋性增高，容易发生碱中毒或血钙降低，所以应该补充锌钙丰富的食物，钙能镇静中枢神经系统、抑制神经细胞的兴奋性。含钙丰富的食物有芹菜、雪里蕻、油菜、小白茶、荠菜、榨菜、红果、干酸枣、炒杏仁、炒南瓜子、榛子、猪肾、牛奶、干酪、咸鸭蛋、蛋黄、小黄鱼、田螺、青蛤、海参、虾皮、芝麻酱等。
